Tom thumb food is a cultural relic In eastern North Carolina. The reason why I can say that is because this type of food is more than just sausage and has also been around for a long time especially in eastern North Carolina.

Until about forty years ago, saving meat for winter was an important annual ritual in the rural South. One type of sausage that you can find in this place is tom thumb. Therefore, it is a cultural heritage and must be preserved until now.
